Research Title: An Action Research on Women Empowerment and Youth Development for the Poor Sectors of Three Parishes in Caloocan, Manila, and Mandaluyong 
(URCO Project No. 08 IR U 3 11)


PROJECT SITES
  • Parish of San Jose de Agudo (Caloocan) 
  • Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (Leveriza, Manila)
  • Parish of the Our Lady of the Abandoned (Mandaluyong)  

OBJECTIVES
  • Determine the present socio-economic status of women and youth in term of their access to education and training, health, employment, and food.
  • Describe the effect of poverty and discrimination on women and youth in the Parishes.
  • Identify the aspirations of women and youth in the Parish communities.
  • Analyze the strategic issues and gaps that will reduce the poverty level of these women and youth in the three Parishes.
  • Develop strategic plans for the empowerment of women and development of the youth which can be adopted by the Parishes.
  • Implement (to pilot test) one or two programs for each Parish and evaluate its success after one trimester.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS
  • Research report and data base of the 100 women and 100 youth who will be included in the project.
  • Strategic plans for the empowerment of women and development of the youth which can be adopted by the Parishes.
  • Implement (to pilot test) one or two programs for the women and youth project participant from the Parish.
SIGNIFICANCE
  • Providing assistance to the poor families of women and youth through education, health, nutrition, and livelihood who are living in the parish community.
  • Identification of sources where the poor women and youth can have access to fast and low interest rate credit facilities for the establishment of micro and small enterprises of those living in the parish community.
  • Potential adoption of the three Parishes as partner communities of the College for its community involvement on a long-term basis.
  • Through the Parish, CPBDE can identify prospective participants for its Pastoral Management Training Program.
