On Community Engagement
De La Salle University Community Engagement (CE) Framework

The New Vision-Mission
De La Salle University is a leading learner-centred research university, bridging faith and scholarship in the service of society, especially the poor

  • All community engagement interventions by DLSU are anchored on a social reality or a combination thereof (social disintegration, poverty and ecological degradation);
  • Contextualization of DLSU CE interventions is guided by the option for the poor lens;
  • DLSU CE process should ideally follow the suggested progression phases from awareness and partnership building to actual community engagement and then to the personal and structural transformation however, it is also acknowledged that CE interventions may start from any of the identified phases;
  • An ideal CE intervention should comply with all the phases of the CE process.
Lasallian Community Engagement Process

  • All output of CE interventions should be leading towards the following vision of society: empowered, sustainable and disaster resilient communities; socially aware and active Lasallians; and good governance; and
  • Specific CE interventions should be geared towards a specific vision of society and must eventually contribute in addressing the concerns related to the given social reality.
